The “Good Enough” Homepage That’s More Than Good Enough
👇 Keep reading for our recommended tools, hosting platforms, tracking setups, and more.
Let’s be honest: you don’t need a perfect homepage right now.
You just need one that doesn’t suck.
When you’re still in product validation mode — testing pain points, learning what resonates, figuring out who your best customers might be — it’s tempting to obsess over design, layout, and polish.
But here’s the truth: you don’t need a flawless homepage. You need one that works hard enough to support your early tests.
In the video above, we walk you through exactly what that looks like.
We’re not talking about a full brand launch. We’re talking about a fast, functional, and focused homepage that captures attention, communicates value, and moves people to take action.
And don’t worry — we’re not asking you to give away your secret sauce or expose your IP. We’ll show you how to talk about the problem and the value you offer without spilling the tech or the method behind it.
So… What Makes It “Good Enough”?
Your homepage needs to do four simple but critical things:
Grab attention fast
You’ve got about 3 seconds. Start with a headline that speaks directly to a pain point or aspiration. Make it clear what you do — and who it’s for.Back up your claim
Don’t just make a bold promise. Tell people how you’re going to deliver on it. This might mean listing product features, showing your process, or sharing logistics — just enough to build trust, not enough to reveal the full blueprint.Validate the idea
People want to feel confident that what you’re offering is real and trustworthy. Validation can come from testimonials, FAQs, case studies — or even just a clear explanation of how your product or service works in practice.Close with a call to action
Reiterate your value and guide the user to the next step: sign up, buy, request a demo, join a waitlist — whatever moves them forward.
That’s it.
Keep it clear, honest, and focused on solving a real problem. Your homepage doesn’t need to win awards. It just needs to work while you test and learn.
Let’s Get You A Site!
There’s a tonne of options out there and if you’re technical, you can build anything you want. Just make sure you have some kind of analytics on the site. If you’re not sure where to start, here’s what we usually recommend.
If you’re planning on selling a physical product, use Shopify. If you’re not, or you want to start out on the cheap, use WordPress. Details Below!
Register a Domain Name
We recommend Name Cheap to register your new domain. They’re cheap, but professional and offer forever free identity protection!
WordPress Sites
We strongly recommend Bricks Builder for building your site. It’s easy to use and based on a lot of testing, it’s faster and more flexible than most of the other visual site builders out there.
Need a WordPress Host? We use and ALWAYS recommend WPX. They’re super easy to get started with and have some of the best support I’ve seen. The have free daily backups so you can always get them to go back if you break anything!
Shopify
If you’re building a online store (e-commerce) you can get started with shopify and leverage the google suite to do the testing. Shopify also sells some AB testing Apps but we haven’t tested them and you probably don’t need them.

Analytics and Behaviour tracking
Funny how being able to track data is kind of important if you’re going to use data to make better decisions. If you need help with any of these we walk through setting them up for Shopify and WordPress + BricksBuilder. Jump to that Tutorial here.
Google Analytics
You can’t make good decisions with out data to support it. See where people are coming from and what they’re doing on your site with Google Analytics.
Need some help getting Analytics, Tag manager and Optimize set up? We have a course for that!
Microsoft Clarity
Clarity allows you to see through it’s heatmaps where people are clicking and how much of each page users view. You can also watch real users navigate your site! Get a free account here.
Google Tag Manager (optional, but more advanced tracking)
Create custom events so you can track any action and optimize for that behaviour with Google Tag Manager
We do not recommend using WIX or Squarespace. Both of those options have elements that make it hard for us to add other tracking codes, which is required for this course.
